Challenges for the Future

Static or Declining Church Contributions

Today the church culture is a product of its culture. A general suspicion of organizations has led to less denomination loyalty.  In addition, a focus on designated giving has compounded the problem. The implication of designated giving is that churches are more interested in a particular ministry endeavor than the organization as a whole. The next executive will have to face the challenge of static or declining contribution.

The Loss of the Depression Generation and the Aging Boomer Generation

The Depression generation has been the most loyal generation of the church. In particular, the MBC has benefited by the presence of this generation. In addition as the boomers age, the MBC will be in the hands of the post modern generation. Nurturing and developing post modern churches will be the challenge for the MBC in years to come.

The Development of a New Staff

With the retirement of Truett, the retirement of several key staff may follow. The new executive will have to build his staff from new recruits and recent hires. This new team will have the opportunity to give direction to the MBC for the next decade.

The Generation of New Capital for Trout

In order to complete the expansion of Trout, new capital will be needed. In order to complete the upgrade at Timber Ridge it is estimated that an additional 1.5 million dollars will be needed.

The Future of Ministry in the Ukraine

Ministry in the Ukraine is dependant upon the political climate in the country. Sixty to seventy Minnesota churches have a relationship with sister church in the Ukraine. Though we hold to the autonomy of the local church, the new executive will have a role of determining the on-going role of Minnesota churches with Ukraine churches.
